Cars in German Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Officers reported they were contacted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.

An important representative stated the attack rendered him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.

"This act affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
